Loki and Matthias are wandering the streets again. She knows that she can ask Jim for food, but rather doesn't want to become dependent on his food source. So, she decides to mainly scavenge around herself and ask Jim when she fails to do so. After all, Matthias needs it. Just as Loki is looking around in a bin, an elderly norovirus virioness tries to lure Matthias away from her. Loki notices and turns around. ''Excuse me, miss, but that's MY son!'' She tells her sternly. ''I know. But I find it so sad that he has to eat some other microbe's scraps.'' She replies. The virioness takes Matthias's paw and pulls him closer, but Loki quickly walks towards them and takes him back. ''The bloody audacity!'' She yells at the virioness. Then the virioness tries to manipulate Loki into giving in and handing her son to her so she can provide him of a home and food. ''Your son would be taken care off, and you don't need to worry about his well being and safety any longer. As a mother myself, I understand that you're trying all your best to care for him, but don't you wish to see him in much better conditions?'' She explains. Loki suddenly feels a pinch of guilt, as well as desperation again, as she listens to the virioness, and starts to think about leaving Matthias with her. ''She's right. How could I be so selfish for not deciding to leave him with someone who can care for him, only because I'm scared that they'll bring him back to Xynos. I'm sure this virioness has no connections to him whatsoever.'' She thinks to herself. She puts Matthias back on the ground and wants to explain to him that it's best for him to go with the elderly virioness, but Matthias turns around to the virioness and bares his teeth at her. ''Listen! If you want to give ME a house, you need to take my Mama too!'' He sassily yells at her. Both virionesses stare at each other with wide open eyes, then back at Matthias, who's still snarling. Then the elderly virioness sighs and signs at Loki to come with her too.

They sit with the virioness, who introduced herself as Darla, in her backyard drinking tea. Though, Matthias rather wanted a glass of lemonade instead, because the tea has steeped for a too long time and tastes to bitter. ''You two can take a bath and borrow some clothes if you want. I have some clothes from my grandchildren to wear for Matthias.'' Darla smiles. Loki gratefully nods at her. ''I'm surprised to see SARS Coronavirus Two particles living on the streets, though. Aren't you part of the Burgess family?'' Loki almost chokes on her tea by the words of the virioness, and starts to cough. ''Are you alright, my dear?'' The virioness asks in concern. When Loki has stopped coughing, she turns back at the other virioness again. ''Uhm... no. We're not. We're just two random particles, is all. '' She nervously explains. She starts to feel paranoid now and is scared that Darla actually DID plan to bring Matthias back to Xynos. However, on the other hand, the Burgess family is the only SARS Coronavirus Two family in the entire city of Brighton, so it's not weird that she's is assuming it. She decides to keep a close eye on Darla anyway, though.

The next morning, Loki and Matthias wake up in the spare room of Darla's house. They took a bath yesterday, so they're finally all clean again. Loki puts on the dress that Darla gave her. It really looks like an old lady dress, but at least it's clean. Then she dresses Matthias up in the clothes that Darla gave for him. When they're eating breakfast, Darla says that she's going to the supermarket. When done eating, Loki takes Matthias to Darla's living room to sit down on the sofa. Matthias is walking around, sniffing and curiously trying to touch Darla's belongings. ''Matthias, no. That's not yours.'' Loki says sternly when she notices it. Matthias quickly retreats his paw and guiltily turns to his mother.

Meanwhile, when Darla has done the groceries and is just putting them in her bike's bag, she's approached by Hannibal. ''Good morning, madam. Can I perhaps hand you this flyer?'' He asks. Darla takes it from him, as he walks off again to approach the next microbe, she's reading the text on the flyer. 'If you can find and return these two particles to the Burgess nest, you will be granted £10.000.000.' It reads. Then she looks at the photo under the text. ''Loki and Matthias! So they ARE part of the Burgess family!'' She thinks to herself. She's wondering why they were on the streets then and why they need to be returned. But that is quickly being replaced by just wanting the money. The two are at her home right now, so if she returns home quick, and... she searches for a phone number, which she finds under the photo... she'll be rich!

Darla enters the house and puts the groceries on the diner table. She wants to go to the living room to dial the number, but imagines that if Loki and Matthias find out that she's calling their family, they might get startled and run away. There must be some reason why they're not home and why they're being wanted, but she doesn't care! Her becoming rich is more important! ''I'm going on a well deserved cruise and eat as much clams and oysters as I please!'' She excitedly thinks to herself. She runs upstairs to use the phone in her bedroom instead. Loki decides to unpack the groceries out of gratitude for Darla's kindness and walks into the kitchen, where she finds the flyer. Her heart starts to pound in her chest and sweat breaks out as she's reading the text and seeing the photo of her and Matthias. Then she hears Darla speaking on the phone. ''Yes, yes, they're here. You can come and take them now.'' She hears her saying. Loki quickly turns around and returns to the living room to grab Matthias and flee from the house. ''Why are we running now, Mama?'' Matthias asks her as she runs out of the back door, but she ignores him.

Darla walks downstairs and enters the living room. ''Loki? Matthias?''. She walks to the kitchen and finds the back door open wide, with Loki and Matthias nowhere to be found. ''Blimy! They're gone!'' She yells. Ten minutes later, her doorbell rings. ''Hello, gentlemen.'' She says as she opens the door. Xynos, Hannibal and Jinx barge in. ''Where are they, miss?'' Xynos asks as he's looking around. ''Gone.'' Darla replies.

''So, you were lying? You think you're funny lying to me, miss?!'' Xynos yells at her while grabbing her by the throat.

''They were actually here, Xynos. But, they fled from the back door!'' Jinx says as he's sniffing and walking into to kitchen, all the way to the back door.

''FUCK!'' Xynos yells. He lets go of Darla and signs to the other two virions to follow him. They walk out of the house and drive away in Xynos's car. Darla touches her throat, grateful that they didn't shot her through the head.

Loki is hiding away in dense bushes, still panting. Though, she's calming down a bit now. Then she turns to Matthias. ''I'm sorry that I didn't answer your question, sweetie. But I can explain now. That virioness didn't turn out to be as kindhearted as she showed to us. Your father is spreading flyers about us now and telling others that he'll give them money if they'll turn us in to him. That virioness was calling your father, that's why we had to leave.'' She whispers. Matthias doesn't say anything, but the fact that he's pinning his ears backs says it all. Loki wraps her arm around him to comfort him. Then they hear a familiar noise coming closer until a black car drives by slowly. Matthias gasps and starts to cry, but Loki pushes his face against her chest and tells him to stay still and really quiet. When looking through the leaves, she sees Xynos looking out of the window. She also recognises his brother Hannibal sitting in the back of the car. There's someone sitting next to Xynos too, but the virion is hidden behind him, so she can't tell who it is. Though, given they're trying to track her and Matthias, she assumes that it must be Xynos's cousin, Jinx, the virion known for his nose being as strong as a blood hound's. The wind blows towards Loki's hiding spot, so she hopes she won't be detected. But the car stops in front of the bushes and Xynos just keeps staring at it. Then he snarls and gets out of the car to approach the bushes. ''Oh, no! He sees us!'' Loki thinks to herself. She's almost about to cry from fear, but makes herself ready to sprint away and scream for help. Just as Xynos is about to stick his paw into the bushes, a crow swoops down and starts to attack him. Xynos backs away from the bushes and flings his four arms around in the hope to hit it. ''GET AWAY FROM ME!!!'' He yells at the crow. The crow starts to peck and scratch him in the face, so Xynos covers his face and returns to the car. When back inside the car though, the crow flies through the open window and continues to peck and scratch Xynos, Jinx and Hannibal. All three are flailing around and trying to catch the crow. ''GRAB THAT BLOODY BIRD AND THROW IT OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW!!!'' Xynos yells. ''WE'RE TRYING!!!'' Hannibal yells back at him. Then Jinx is finally able to grab it and throw it out. All windows are quickly closed as the crow returns and tries to attack them again. It keeps divebombing itself onto the car, causing scratches on the paint and windows. ''What the hell is that thing's fucking problem?!'' Jinx asks. ''Maybe it's protecting it's nest?'' Hannibal replies. Xynos growls when he sees that the bird has left a surprise on his jacket and starts the car to drive away. Once they've disappeared, the crow lands in a tree to preen it's feathers. Loki looks at it and notices the yellow eyes. ''That was funny! Thank you Grandmama!'' Matthias laughs. The crow caws at him and flies away.

Loki and Matthias return to Jim's place and lay down on their matrasses. When Jim returns too and greets them, Loki acts distrustful to him. ''Did I do something wrong?'' He asks. ''No... it's... Would you bring us back to the Burgess nest for a whole lot of money?'' Loki asks. Jim's face turns surprised, then he seems not to be understanding the question. ''What do you mea-''.

''JUST... ANSWER MY QUESTION! WOULD YOU BRING US BACK FOR MONEY? Loki repeats.

''Back to that child abusing motherfucker? Of course not, Loki!'' Jim replies.

Loki then sits back and strokes Matthias over his shoulder when she notices his shocked expression. ''You were away for a while. You look clean and you're wearing different clothes now. What kind of adventure did you two end up in anyway? Jim continues. Tears start to roll down Loki's face as she explains. ''It was just awful! This elderly norovirus seemed so kind to us, but then she suddenly wanted to turn us in!'' She cries. Jim puts his paw on Loki's shoulder to comfort her. ''It's alright, angel. You know, one of those fuckers handed us a flyer, thinking we'd be interested in the money, given we're a bunch of homeless. But look, we're using them as fuel for our campfire.'' Jim smiles as he points to the fire barrel. Loki now notices a part of the text and the photo burning away in the fire when she looks at it. Then she turns back at Jim and starts to laugh as she's wiping her face. Jim can be trusted.

The next morning, Jim and two of the other homeless microbes go out searching for more food. Three of them stay with Loki and Matthias. ''Just stay here and don't go standing in front of the windows, then that arse won't find you.'' Jim explains. ''He has a tracker with him. If he follows my scent here, I'll be found anyway.'' Loki replies. Then Jim is scratching his head as he's thinking of a plan. ''Alright, uhm... I do have an idea what may help you and Matthias stay hidden from that tracker...'' He starts. Then he points at a dead fox that's been laying around outside for days. ''... You may not like it at all, but rolling on that carcass over there helps masking your scent.'' He continues. Loki looks at the fox with a disgusted expression. Then she sighs and takes Matthias with her to roll on the fox until they both smell really bad. Then they return to their matrasses to sit down. Loki grabs a bucket because she and Matthias both start to gag. The other two microbes rather keep their distances from them because of the smell.

An hour later, Jim and the other two return with food. Meat this time too. Loki takes the meat to eat, though, knowing she and Matthias still smell bad, she decides to sit further away from the microbes, so their appetite won't be ruined. Loki looks at the meat and notices that it looks quite fresh, not like it has been half eaten and laying around in a bin. ''Did you steal this?'' Loki asks. Jim turns to her with a guilty look, but says nothing. Loki turns away from him again when she realises that he just wants to help keeping her and Matthias as healthy and strong as possible. But she doesn't like the idea that she's eating stolen food.

Another morning, Loki wakes up because Matthias is coughing. ''Are you alright, sweetie?'' She asks. ''My throat is itchy.'' Matthias replies. Then he sits upright to play with WeeWee. Loki gets up to get him some water, hoping it will help calming his throat a bit. Jim and two of the other homeless make themselves ready to search for food again, and as usual, three stay with Loki and Matthias. As the hours go by, Matthias's health seems to decline. He's listlessly laying on his mattress, coughing a lot and complaining about his sore throat and headache. Jim tries to offer him some food and water, but Matthias declines. ''Is he sick because of the dead fox?'' Loki anxiously asks. ''Wouldn't you be sick too, then? You touched it too.'' Jim replies. ''Maybe he has a cold, and coincidentally got sick after rolling on the fox.'' An influenzavirus named James says. Loki then decides to lie down next to Matthias, with her arms around him to keep him warm.

That night, Matthias's health has declined even further and he seems to have difficulty breathing. When Loki touches his head, she notices that he feels rather hot to the touch too. Loki gets up and sprints to Jim to wake him up. ''Matthias can't breathe and he has a fever!'' She squeals. Jim follows her back to Matthias to check on him. The poor pup is squirming and moaning as he tries to breathe. ''This is really bad. You need to take him to the hospital.'' He says. Loki turns to him with a shocked expression. ''But, what if Xyn-''. Jim stomps on the ground and angrily looks at Loki. ''Forget about that guy for a moment and take your kid to the fucking hospital!'' He yells at her. The other homeless also wake up and turn to the two in surprise. Then Jim calms himself down and apologises to Loki. ''Look, I understand that you don't want to lose your son and that you're protecting him from his father. But, if you don't let him get treated... you'll lose him anyway.'' He explains. Loki starts to cry, but she knows that Jim is right. She carefully picks up Matthias and walks out of the building. Jim takes his shopping cart and puts some blankets in it, then he follows Loki. ''I'll go with you. Put Matthias in here.'' He says.

They arrive at the hospital without being caught by Xynos. Maybe he only searches for her and Matthias during the day? They walk over to the counter close to the entrance and Loki explains the situation. The neutrophil behind the counter turns to her and then to Matthias. She seems disgusted. ''Go back to the Far East and ask there again, lady. We don't want your kind here!'' She says. Loki stares at the neutrophil in disbelief, but Jim gently pushes her aside to face the neutrophil. ''You keep your bloody racism to yourself, BITCH! The boy is really sick and if he doesn't get treated in time, he'll die!'' He yells at her. The neutrophil looks at all three of them, then she just casually turns back to what she was doing. ''You look like you can't pay bills. I can decline you any treatment, just for that.'' She says. Jim grows enraged and is about to shout at the neutrophil again, but he gets distracted when a voice sounds from behind them. ''What is going on?''. Jim and Loki both turn around and meet the eyes of a nurse.

''This racist bitch here won't grant us any access to treatment for my friend's son, only because we're homeless.'' Jim explains, as he throws the neutrophil an angered expression. The nurse looks into the shopping cart and sees Matthias, who's fighting for his life. Then she looks at the neutrophil with the same angered expression. ''I'll make sure you get fired for this!'' She says. Then she signs at Jim and Loki to follow her.

Some hours later, Loki and Jim are sitting next to Matthias. He's laying in a bed, with a tube in his mouth to provide him of oxygen, and multiple wires sticking to his chest. Loki is stroking him over his head and closely listens to the beeping of the heart monitor. Loki almost starts to cry as she can't bear seeing her little boy like this. Then the nurse walks in. ''Hello, miss. I need to register your son so I can put on a name on the door. Also, what is your name?'' She explains. Loki looks at her with shock. She doesn't want to give her and Matthias's name, because she might be familiar with the Burgess family, and take a phone call to the nest to tell that two of their members are at the hospital. She's also too paranoid to use her own family name. She tries to come up with fake names instead. Loki is thinking, then her eyes fall on the nurse's tail. ''Diana Longta-''. Then she corrects herself, because 'Longtail'' sounds too silly to be an actual family name. ''Diana Long. And my son's name Is Bobby Long.'' She says. Most western SARS Coronavirus Two particles still have their Chinese family names, so it's quite logical to come up with one for a fake name. ''Alright, thank you.'' The nurse says when she leaves the room again. Jim turns to her with a smile. ''Good idea to mask yourself by lying about your name.'' He says. ''Much better than masking myself with a dead fox.'' Loki replies with a disgusted face. Then the nurse walks back in again. ''You're in quite a bad shape too, miss. I recommend that you get a health checkup, as goes for the sir next to you. You both might be infected with the bacterium too.'' She says. ''Uhm... w-we have no money-'' Loki tries. ''Oh... no worries. It's just a small checkup and it's free. And I decided to pay the bill for Bobby's treatment for you. '' The nurse says. Loki gets tears in her eyes from happiness and gets up to hug the nurse. But, she still smells like a decomposing corpse, so the nurse steps back. Loki understands and sits back down. ''Thank you very much for your kindness.'' She just says instead.

After the checkup, the nurse explains that she wants to help them getting back in society again, but Jim declines. After all, he doesn't want to leave behind his mates. He does tell Loki to do it, because he wants them to live in a proper house and be able to eat as much food as they want. Loki in turns tries to convince to go with her, but he still declines. Then they say goodbye as Loki finally accepts Jim's decision to stay homeless. ''No matter what, angel, I'll always be your friend.'' He says as he hugs Loki. ''Oh, and tell the little virion, once he wakes up." He adds. Then he leaves the room and Loki lays back down on her bed. ''I haven't even introduced myself!'' The nurse says with a sudden gasp. ''I'm Willow.''. ''Ah, nice to meet you, Willow.'' Loki says. The nurse then reaches out to her to take her home, but Loki's paranoia returns as she realises that it would mean that she has to leave Matthias. ''I rather stay with my son.'' She says. ''No offense, but you're filthy and you smell bad. You can take a shower at my house and get new clothes. Bobby is in good paws right now, so you don't have to worry about him, if that's the problem.'' The nurse explains. ''P-please... I-I-I really w-want to stay with my son.'' Loki says as she's getting more anxious. Willow notices it and walks toward Loki and reaches out to touch her shoulder, but Loki is startled and tries to flee. ''GET AWAY FROM ME!!!'' Loki screams as she tries to get off the bed. But Willow grabs her and pins her back down. ''There's a reason you don't want to leave your son. Tell me, what's the problem.'' She says. Loki is doing her best to get herself free from Willow's grip, but the bacterium is just to strong. ''LET ME GO! LET ME GO!'' She screams. She growls loudly and even tries to turn her head to Willow to bite her in the face.

''You're afraid of something, aren't you? Please, tell me what's wrong. I can help you!''

''LET ME GO!!!''

''Only if you calm down and tell me what's wrong, Diana!''

''NO, I DON'T TRUST YOU!!!''

Then she turns her head to Willow again and manages to bite her on the nose. Willow flinches and squeals for a bit, but still won't let go off Loki. ''CALM DOWN! I'm not going to hurt you. I want to help!'' Willow yells at Loki. Loki is getting tired from trying to wiggle herself free and starts to pant. ''Please, let me go.'' She cries. ''If you just tell me what you're afraid of, I'll let you go.'' Loki finally gives up entirely and starts explaining. Everything she and Matthias went through and that she actually gave up false names for their protection. Willow finally lets go and sits down. ''That's just awful. I really feel for you.'' Willow says. Then she gets up again and puts her paw on Loki's shoulder. ''This is what we're going to do. I'll bring you to my apartment, so you can shower and eat a bit. Then I'll return here to keep watch over Matthias, alright?'' Willow explains. ''But, what if your shift ends?'' Loki asks. ''I'll think of that. But personally, I don't think your dickhead husband will come here looking for you.'' Willow says. Loki shakily gets off the bed and wants to open the door, but then she turns to Willow again. ''I'd like to see Matthias before you take me to your home.'' She says. Willow nods and leads Loki her back to Matthias's room, so she can hug him before she leaves the hospital.

The entire drive to Willow's home, Loki's is shivering and tries to hide her face in fear of getting caught by Xynos, or his goons. Once arrived at the house, Willow shows her where the bathroom is and where she can find food. She also gives her clean clothes, then she returns to the hospital. Before she leaves the house, Willow explains that she has an elderly roommate, named Huxley, and that he's taking her daughter to school at the moment. ''I'll leave a note for him real quick, so he won't get startled when he sees you.'' Willow says. Then she leaves and Loki goes to the bathroom to shower. When she's done and enters the living room, an elderly adenovirus virion is sitting on the sofa, reading the paper. ''Ah, you must be Willow's frie-''. He stares at her in shock. Then he jumps up. ''GET OUT!'' He yells. Loki is surprised and takes a few steps back when Huxley walks over to her trying to smack her with his rolled up paper. ''You're one of those Burgess bastards! Get out, before you get me in trouble!'' Huxley yells. ''I-I don't mean any harm, sir.'' Loki explains. ''GET OUT!'' Huxley continues. He repeatedly smacks her with his paper, causing Loki to walk backward, until her back is against the front door. ''Please, sir. Don't throw me out. Willow brought me here for my safety.'' She begs. ''I don't care. Get out!'' Huxley yells. ''Please, let me stay. Me and my son are in danger.'' Loki cries. ''And me too if you don't go away, right now!'' Huxley yells. Then Loki gives up and leaves the apartment. Though, she sit down in front of the door as she's trying to hide behind the gallery. ''Do not sit down there, go away!'' Huxley yells at her. He even kicks her as he's coaxing her to get up and walk further. Loki walks away, but hunches over as she's still trying to hide behind the gallery. Then she sits down further away, but Huxley threatens to kick her again, so Loki quickly gets up again and runs into the flat's staircase.

She decides to run all the way down and hide away in a dark corner behind the stairs. Nobody has noticed her as she quickly ran down, and still no microbe notices her as they walk up or down the stairs, or take the lift. She tries to stay as quiet as possible, and luckily she doesn't smell like the dead fox anymore, otherwise somebody must've searched where the smell comes from, and then find her. After a while, Willow enters the flat and Loki is doubting if the should reveal herself now or not. She eventually decides that she should tell Willow that her roommate doesn't want her in their home. ''Willow.'' She says from behind the stairs. Willow is just walking up the stairs, but walks down again when she hears Loki's voice. ''Loki? What are you doing down there?'' She asks in surprise. ''Huxley threw me out. He knows that I fled from the nest. I'm afraid to go outside, so I'm hiding here.'' Loki explains. ''Alright, wait here. I'll talk to Huxley.'' Willow instructs her. Then she walks up the stairs again.

Willow enters her apartment and walks up to Huxley. ''I can't believe you actually threw out a virioness in need, Huxley!'' Willow says. Huxley gets angry and gets up from the sofa to face Willow. ''Do you even realise in what kind of danger you're dragging us? If her family finds out that we're hiding her away from them, they'll kill us!'' He explains. ''I know that. But they WON'T find out, ever!'' Willow promises. Then they both sit down on the sofa. And Huxley grabs his paper again. ''She fled from the nest because her husband is abusive to her and her son, and now the dickhead is following them. She told me that if he finds them, she will be shot through the head and then the boy will end back into his father's paws. I wouldn't let Annabelle get returned to my ex, if she were as abusive as that guy.'' Willow says.

''My father once let a Burgess virioness, who fled for the exact same reason, stay at our home. Her husband too followed her, and found her in our house, because they started to force microbes to let them in for a search warrant. Even the police wouldn't stop them from breaking into other microbes houses, because they're scared to death of them. When they found the virioness, they told my father to follow them outside. I looked out of the window and saw how one of them pointed a pistol at my father and shot him through the head.'' Huxley replies, with eyes getting watery as he relives the whole event again.

''I didn't know that... sorry.''

''I never told you.''

''I'm very honest, Willow. I do feel bad for my behavior. As a Christian, I should be showing kindness and help those in need. But I didn't.''

''You don't even have to be Christian to be kind to others, or to help them, Hux. It's all about having a good heart. You've always had a good heart, but I also understand that you're just scared.''

Huxley sighs, puts the paper away and gets up from the sofa. ''You really must have a great plan to evade death, Willow. Come on, lets search for her.'' Huxley says. Then they both walk down the stairs to get Loki.

''You really do not mind me staying here?'' Loki asks when they're sitting in the living room. ''I'm nervous, but yes, you can stay.'' Huxley replies. Willow comes back with two cups of tea and hands one to Loki, and the other to Huxley. She returns to the kitchen to get herself a cup of coffee. ''But I have a brilliant plan in case the dickhead decides to look into others houses.'' Willow says when she returns to the living room. Loki's face turns shocked at her words and Willow notices. ''No worries. You won't be found.'' Willow reassures her. ''Oh, and a colleague of mine is keeping an out for the dickhead. If she spots any SARS Coronavirus Two virion, she'll warn me, and I'll race to the hospital to face them.''. Loki admires Willow's bravery and determination to protect her and Matthias, but she also fears for her life, as she, like Huxley, knows that Xynos will shoot her through the head.
